About Aleja GIF

Aleja GIF, also known as Aleja Florez T, is a Colombian artist and researcher based in Spain.

Working primarily with animated GIFs, she explores themes such as waiting, nostalgia, routine, and the creative process. Her visual language combines surrealist influences with vaporwave aesthetics, creating looping worlds that are sometimes poetic and sometimes absurd.

Most of her pieces are 2D animations that blend traditional and digital techniques. This dialogue between old and new, analogue and digital, is one of the defining features of her artistic practice.

She has participated in a variety of exhibitions and artistic projects, consistently advocating for the GIF as a legitimate artistic medium and a powerful tool for creative expression. When she is not making animations, she is probably thinking about them, researching them, or trying to convince someone that the animated GIF deserves its own chapter in art history.
